I am a Software Engineer in the United States. This podcast focuses on the experiences of Asian immigrants in North America, particularly on how they establish businesses and adapt to new cultural environments. This content resonates with Chinese-speaking individuals who are either considering immigration, curious about life in North America, or already part of the Asian American/Canadian community. This podcast provides a platform for sharing diverse experiences, fostering a sense of community and understanding among your listeners.
This podcast primarily appeals to Chinese-speaking individuals interested in the experiences of Asian immigrants in North America. This includes people in China curious about life and opportunities post-immigration, as well as Asian Americans and Canadians seeking connection and understanding of their own community's stories. The content is particularly relevant for those exploring cross-cultural experiences, business ventures, and personal growth in a new environment. Your podcast serves as a bridge, offering insights and shared experiences that resonate with a diverse audience across different geographic locations.
► Why & how did you start this podcast?
Immersive interviews will help the storytellers have more freedom to express their thoughts and facts. I am a big fan of 'HIBT,' 'Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend,' and 'The Ramsey Show'.
The goal was simple yet exciting: chat with fellow Asians in the U.S. and unravel the secret sauce of their financial success. It's like a treasure hunt for wisdom and stories.
Summer 2021 marked the grand debut of this auditory adventure. It took me more than 30 hours to launch my first episode. I was using GarageBand which took me a huge amount of time.

► How'd you find the time and funding to do this podcast?
I try my best to release biweekly. Each episode is a mini marathon, taking 10-30 hours. It's a mix of detective work on the guest, creative interviewing, audio-video wizardry, crafting show notes, and then there's the social media dance to get the word out.
How'd you find time to do a podcast if you have a day job? Time can always be found if you look hard enough, much like squeezing water out of a sponge.
Budget-wise, I spend 500 USD every year, mostly on audio devices. I LOVE Yeti the most so far. I'm the solo sponsor of this podcast party, funding it with a bit of elbow grease and a lot of enthusiasm.
► What do you gain from podcasting?
While the podcast hasn't brought in any revenue yet, it's been a goldmine in other ways. It's massively expanded my social network, connecting me with high-energy individuals, some of whom typically command over $1000 per hour for their time. These valuable connections are choosing to share their insights with me on the podcast for free, a testament to the engaging and professional platform I've created. This experience has been invaluable in building relationships and learning from industry leaders.
► How does your podcasting process look like?
What tools/services (hardware, software, audio editing...) do you use?How do you find guests to interview?
Speaker: Yeti / Rode Wireless GO II
Audio Editing: Audacity and Adobe Audition
I source my remarkable guests through a blend of online platforms (like X, WeChat, Little Red Book) and offline channels (friends, social events, forums). To extract meaningful insights, extensive preparation is crucial. This includes reading their books, listening to their past interviews, and scouring YouTube for relevant content. Depending on the situation, interviews are conducted in person or remotely via platforms like Riverside.fm, ensuring a versatile and professional approach to each episode.
► How do you market your show?
To promote my podcast, I utilize a range of platforms including YouTube, Apple Podcast, Spotify, X (formerly known as Twitter), WeChat, and Little Red Book. Among these, the most effective marketing strategy has been engaging in face-to-face conversations and personally encouraging people to give it a listen.
► What advice would you share with aspiring (new) podcasters?
Sometimes you like one episode so much and find the audience doesn't. And it's okay.
